Under the Arbor, a two act opera by composer Robert Greenleaf, based on a libretto and story by Marian Carcache was performed in Birmingham, AL, in 1992, was broadcast on Public Television in 1994 and was subsequently nominated for an EMMY award by the Atlanta Chapter of NATAS. Under the Arbor won a Finalist Award in the International Film and Television Festival of New York, placing it as the best Performing Arts Special in the United States and one of the top six Performing Arts Specials in the world for 1994. Under the Arbor has been distributed on videocassette in the United States and Canada by Kultur International, Ltd., and is now available on DVD for 24.95+S&H.

This vibrant new opera is a coming of age story set on the banks of the Chattahoochee River in 1943. The plot turns on the romance of two young lovers, Hallelujah Jernigan and Robert Patterson Lee. Hallie and Robert take the first steps towards sexual awakening as religion, guilt, magic, and voodoo intermingle to illuminate the intricate tapestry of the southern experience, both black and white.

Celebration
Celebration is an exciting orchestral piece full of energy and power, originally written to celebrate the rebirth of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

Commissioned by Ruth and Marvin Engel, Celebration was given six performances by the National Symphony Orchestra under the batons of Leonard Slatkin and Barry Jakowski. It is now the official theme music of the International Computer Programming Contest and has been performed in Smetana Hall, Prague, The Czech Republic, with Maestro Jan Valta conducting the Prague Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and in Shanghai, Peoples Republic of China, under the baton of Maestro Cao Peng, conducting the Shao Tung University Symphony Orchestra.
